Civic activities include participating in politics or political events, or volunteering in organized community activities or with nonprofit organizations. Participants might volunteer at a local animal shelter, serve food at a free lunch program, or make calls for a local candidate. Volunteering sponsored by a spiritual organization, such as a church-based food pantry, would qualify for either the spiritual or civic categories.
